At
Cosmetic & Family Dentistry, we strive to provide a
comfortable and informative dental visit using state-of-the-art
technology. We have several tools at our disposal:
Air
Abrasion:
Are you less than enthused about the dental drill? Do you
wish there were another way?
Well, your wish may have come true. Using a stream of air,
we can now remove decay, usually without a need for injection.
Air abrasion offers the most comfortable dentistry possible
which eliminates the need for the dental drill or injections.
This technique can be used only for simple fillings.
Nitrous
Oxide Gas:
If you need that extra relaxation during your treatment,
this will be the answer for you. Used widely in dentistry,
nitrous oxide gas (laughing gas) provides that extra care
for the nervous patient.
Intraoral
Camera:
This is a wonderful diagnostic tool that we use in our office.
It is a tiny video camera that projects a life like image
of your oral cavity on the TV screen. You can see what the
dentist sees. Next time you are in our office, ask for a
tour of your mouth!
Cosmetic
Imaging:
If you ever wondered how you would look after a cosmetic
smile lift, this is the answer for you. We take a photo
of you and process it through a computer. You will have
a pretty good idea of the future you before we even begin!
Patient
Interactive Education CD:
We believe that you need to have a complete understanding
of your situation, and also the needed treatment. We use
this interactive CD to inform and educate our patients.
It comes with a thorough narration and pictures.
Infection
Control:
In our office, we adhere to a strict infection control policy.
Every item used on a patient is either autoclaved or otherwise
disinfected. We do that to protect the ones that place their
trust in us.
Diagnodent:
Water fluoridation and preventive dentistry have changed
the nature of cavities. Large, obvious cavities are not
common anymore. Although this is a dramatic improvement,
research and clinical experience show that cavities are
still prevalent, but their nature has changed. They are
hidden.
Dental cavities have moved to the pits and fissures on teeth.
This makes the diagnosis difficult, since traditional methods
do not detect this decay. These cavities are quite often
very deep and approaching the nerve.
Diagnodent is a device that measures and quantifies the
depth of a suspicious lesion on the tooth using a beam of
laser. This removes the guesswork out of diagnosing those
hidden pit and fissure decays that are so prevalent. This
has become an integral aspect of patient exams.
BRITESMILE
(Laser Bleaching):
This has been one popular addition to our office. Patients
are amazed that they can have their teeth whitened in a
single appointment. No more weeks of home bleaching, messy
trays or slow progress. In contrast to some other systems,
this one does work!
Argon Laser:
Our office has been using Argon Laser for years. This device
helps do bonding and white fillings in a much shorter period,
while improving the quality of restoration at the same time.
